The Empowered Youth Program is an academic enrichment program for students in Clarke and surrounding Georgia counties.

History:

Gentlemen on the Move was first developed in North Carolina by Dr. Deryl Bailey, professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services at the University of Georgia. Initially, this program served African American adolescent males in grades 9-12. The program has since expanded (Empowered Youth Programs) to include male and female students in grades K-12. The program focuses on providing developmental and comprehensive support for students along with individual and group counseling. In addition to the Saturday Academy, we host Exam Lock-Ins for high school participants which are held prior to final semester exams, twice a year.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide equity and access to rigor for students from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We believe that every student should have post-secondary education as an option.
